Dabba Chicken

Dabba Chicken is a beautiful, delicately spiced cashew-nut gravy scalded with garlic flavored ghee and topped with egg mixture which holds the gravy together. i should say this recipe is a keeper and a must try one.
The Dabba Chicken is a Bohra Cuisine. Bohra cuisine, has a large array of unique recipes like Gol Paani, Kalamro, Sarki, Bohra khichda and so on. Different cultures, different foods. Interesting!. I love to research on foods.
Coming to the recipe, i came to know about this recipe from one of the blog, Asheescookbook. I have customized the recipe according to my family liking and it came out perfect and delicious. Keep trust in me and try out this recipe at least onetime, you won't regret.

Dabba Chicken
Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 45 minutes (including baking)

Marinated Chicken
Saute finely chopped onions
Add marinated chicken to sauted onion
Add tomato, yogurt, spices and combine well
Once chicken is cooked, add cashew-nut paste

For Marination:-
Chicken - 1/2 kg
Garlic - 10 
Ginger - 2 inch
Green Chilies - 3 or 4
Coriander Leaves
Salt
For Masala:-
Onion - 3 (finely chopped)
Tomato - 1 small
Yogurt - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Chili Powder - 1/2 tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
Fennel seed powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves - 1 handful
Cashews - 1/4 cup (soaked in water)
Oil
Salt to taste
Garlic - 2 cloves (crushed)
Ghee - 2tbsp
Other ingredients:-
Egg - 1 (Boiled and sliced to rounds)
Egg - 2, mixed with salt and pepper
Tomato Slices - to garnish
Coriander Leaves - to garnish

Method:-
1. Clean and cut the chicken in small pieces.
2. Grind the ingredients under marinate except chicken and marinate the chicken with this. Keep aside.
3. In a pan, add oil, saute finely chopped onions. Once Onions are almost golden, add marinated chicken.
4. Mix well for about 5 minutes till the raw smell disappears and then add finely chopped tomatoes. When tomatoes are almost mashed up, add yogurt and combine well. 
5. Add all spice powders and mix well. Add coriander leaves and adjust salt. Let is cook for 2 minutes and then add 1/4 cup of water. Cover the pan and let the chicken cook. Keep stirring in between.
6. Meanwhile grind the cashew nuts into paste with 2 tbsp of water .
7. Once chicken is cooked add the cashew nut paste to it. Combine well and adjust salt. Let it cook for 2 minutes and turn off the flame. 
8. In another small pan add ghee and add crushed garlic. When the garlic is slightly browned add to prepared chicken gravy and mix well.
8. Now arrange this cooked chicken gravy in a baking dish. Top with boiled egg slices, tomato slices and coriander leaves. 
9. Pour the egg mix(seasoned with salt and pepper) all over the gravy.
10 Bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes at 180 degree Celsius.

Notes:-
1. The same recipe can be used for mutton. While cooking mutton, try to pressure cook them for easy cooking.
