Apple Tarte Tatin
Apple Tarte Tatin is a french desert with the caramelized Apple over the puff pastry which will make your taste buds sing a happy tune. The fusion of flaky pastry with the caramelized fruit is truly a toothsome desert.
It can be called as a one pot desert, as the whole procedures is done in an oven safe pan, from preparing the caramel, then keep the apple slices over it and then cover with the puff pastry and bake it till golden. But if you don have an oven safe pan, don't panic, still you can prepare this delicious desert. Caramelize the sugar in a pan, transfer the caramel to a tart baking tray, arrange the apple slices over the hot caramel and then keep the puff pastry and bake.Done !
Preparation Time : 25 minutes
Cooking Time : 35 minutes
Ingredients:-
Apple - 3 (medium size)peeled, cored and cut to thin slices.
Sugar - 1/2 cup (granulated)
Butter - 1/8 cup
Puff Pastry - rolled to a thickness of 3mm/⅛inch, cut slightly larger than the diameter of the tarte tin or pan
1. In an oven safe pan, melt butter, add sugar and leave undisturbed over medium heat till all the sugar is dissolved. Cook till the caramel is formed (do not let it become too dark).
2. Lower the flame and arrange the apple slices over it, thickly packed in a spiral pattern and press them down with a spatula.
3. Remove the pan from heat. Arrange puff pastry over the apples and press the pastry, so that apples are in contact with the pastry.
4. Prick some holes in the pastry.
5. Keep the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 180 degree Celsius, or until the pastry is golden brown.
6. Once cooked, invert the pan to a serving dish.
7. Serve warm or cold, with or without ice-cream
Note:-
1. Apple can be substituted with Mango, pears etc.
2. This recipe is accurate for a 20 cm or 8 inch pan. You can adjust the size as your wish.
