Custard Trifle



Trifles are simple yet delicious English puddings. A classic trifle mainly has a sponge cake layered with custard, whipped cream and fruits. And this custard trifle is super easy to make delicious and so darn cute. They are a great light treat for your tummy. And the recipe is so versatile. You can play around with any combinations of fruits, even dry fruits can be included and also layering's. if you need trifle in no time, use store bought cake & custard, canned fruits and just layer it and dig into!
I made it for my girl's 2nd birthday for her cousins, so made the custard, jelly and fruits the previous day and assembled it on the next day morning, 5 to 6 hours before the party.



Custard Trifle:-
Preparation Time:- 30 minutes

Ingredients:-
For the custard:-
Store bought Custard Powder - 2 headed tbsp(mixed in 1/4 cup of milk)
Milk - 2 cups
Milk maid - 1/2 tin
Sugar - as required
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
Other Ingredients:-
Sponge Cake - 5 to 6 pieces
Mango - 1
Kiwi -2
Pear -1
Milk maid - 2 tsp
Jelly mix - 1 packet
Biscuit - as your choice for topping

1. Prepare the custard: Mix custard powder and 1/4 cup of milk and keep aside
Heat the 2 cups of milk. Add sugar and milkmaid according to taste.
Once boiling point reaches, add the mixed custard powder.
Stir in vanilla essence and once boiled turn off n keep aside. Once cooled refrigerate.
2.Mix together finely cut fruit pieces with 2 tsp of milkmaid and refrigerate.
3. Prepare the Jelly as package instruction and refrigerate
4. Layering:
a. Keep the sponge cake at the bottom layer of the trifle cups or a wide bowl.
b. Evenly Spread chilled custard over the cake.
c. Cut the jelly into bite pieces and layer the prepared jelly bites.
d. Again layer some more custard.
e. Spread mixed fruits over it and u can layer a thin layer of custard over it.
f. Top with crushed biscuits and decorate as you wish. Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours before serving.

Notes:-
1.Warm Custard also can be used. But in that case, layers will not be prominent as the custard will be seeping down through layers.
2. The Variety and quantity of Fruits can be varied according to your availability.
3. You can used whipped cream as topping.
