Banana Flan

An easy peasy pudding with rich banana flavor and yummilicious caramel sauce. A melt in mouth desert that is easy to mix up for any occasions.

Flans are always a crowd please. There are different kinds and flavored flans. I should say flans are the puddings which my mom used to make for us when we were kids. And we called it as Egg-Milk pudding which we used to dig into. The method is same here except i have added banana's.

Banana Flan
Preparation Time: 7 minutes
Cooking Time : 35 minutes

Ingredients:
For Flan:
Egg - 2
Milk - 1 cup
Banana - 1
Condensed Milk - 6 tbsp
Sugar - 6 tbsp
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp(optional)
For Caramel:
Sugar - 5 tbsp
Water - 1 tbsp

Method:
Caramelizing Sugar:
1. In a pan, combine sugar and water stirring with a wooden spoon, on medium flame. Once the mixture comes to a boil, stop stirring, otherwise it will form crystals.
2. Cook till the sugar dissolves and liquid changes to caramel color (golden brown). Off the flame.
For Flan:
1. Grease a pudding mold of your choice with some butter.
2. Pour the prepared hot caramel in the bottom of the mold.
3. Half the banana and one half, slice to round shapes, Arrange them over the caramel.
4. In a blender, blend together milk, eggs, remaining half of the banana, sugar and condensed milk.
5. Pour the blended mixture over caramel and sliced bananas.
6. Cover the pudding mold with aluminium foil.
7. Keep the mold in a steamer and steam it for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted near center comes out clean.
8. Once done, let it cools down and refrigerate for 2 hours.
9. Run small spatula / knife  around edge of pan. Invert the mold to the serving plate. Done!

Notes:
1. Instead of arranging the banana slices, you can just drop them into the milk-egg mix.
2. If you don't need the bites of banana, blend the whole banana with milk and egg, which will give you more banana flavored pudding.
